There has been a lot of chatter that the Federal Reserve will manage the Federal Funds Rate differently because it's a presidential election year. However, since the 1980's, the Federal Reserve has either cut (4 rate-cut cycles) or hiked (5 rate-hike cycles) rates 9 times during presidential election seasons. In other words, from a historical perspective, it appears the Federal Reserve does not base Federal Fund Rate decisions around the political season, but rather on inflationary and/or employment data.
